Local-only period tracking

What "stored on your device" actually means

Updated June 28, 2026

A cycle tracker does not need an account to be useful. Sometimes the simplest option is the kindest one: write down what happened, keep it on the device in your hand, and let you delete it when you want.

Local-only means fewer places for your notes to go

In open-cycle, your period dates, flow, symptoms, moods, and notes are saved in local storage on your phone or browser. The app does not need a login, an advertising ID, analytics, or a remote account for everyday tracking.

It does not mean magic

Local-only storage still lives on a real device. If you back up your phone, share your device, use a shared browser profile, or copy your notes somewhere else, those choices can move the data. The point is simpler: open-cycle is not built around sending your cycle notes to us.

Why this matters for period tracking

Period data can feel ordinary until it is not. A missed period, a symptom note, a pregnancy-related entry, or a medication note can be personal. Local phone-only cycle tracking keeps the default path smaller.

What to do next

Use open-cycle when you want a free, privacy-first period tracking app. Use Local Cycle if you want the larger one-time paid feature set. Use a clinician, not an app, for medical advice.
